What is a performance model with PXT Select?

A Performance Model is a snapshot of the preferred traits for a given job. It shows the position ranges for each of the Thinking Style (cognitive abilities) and Behavioral Traits scales. For example, it will indicate whether the job calls for a more urgent pace or a steadier pace. When reviewing a candidate’s PXT Select assessment results, you will quickly be able to see whether the candidate falls within or outside the job range.

The Performance Model also indicates how the candidate’s interests line up with the position. The greater the degree of alignment between the individual’s top three interests and the top three interests in the Performance Model, the higher the candidate’s percent fit to the interest.

Essentially, the Performance Model puts a candidate’s scores in context. Each candidate should be compared to the Performance Model that most closely corresponds to the position for which he or she is applying. PXT Select has an expanding library of Performance Models as well as the flexibility to let a user create a new Performance Model. Each library Performance Model has been tested to ensure that if reflects the ranges of people that have been successful in that particular job.

How are performance models created for the PXT Select™?

There are 4 methods in which PXT Select Performance Models are created, which include:

1. Performance Model Library - When using the Performance Model Library, you don't have to create your own model for how a successful performer should score on the assessment.

You can select a model from the Performance Model Library. This tool can be used with the Concurrent Study and/or the Job Analysis Survey.

2. Job Analysis Survey - When using the Performance Model Library you don't have to create your own model for how a successful performer should score on the assessment. 3. Existing Performance Model -Existing Performance Models can be used to help build a new one. This tool can be used with the Concurrent Study and/or the Job Analysis Survey.

4. Concurrent Study -This method uses assessment results of successful employees to build a new model. The larger the study, the better chance the model will be strongly predictive. Less than 3 individuals can be used, but an Existing Performance Model, Library Performance Model and/or Job Analysis Survey must also be selected before continuing.

What does the PXT Select™ measure?

PXT Select is a total person assessment which measures 20 performance indicators. Thinking Style, which includes: A Composite Score, Verbal Skill, Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and Numerical Reasoning. 9 Behavioral Traits which includes: Pace, Assertiveness, Sociability, Conformity, Outlook, Decisiveness, Accommodation, Independence, and Judgment.
